Last night was our office Christmas party. It was ok. It was at the doctors house. We had dinner there and I’m sure it was good , I ate very little of it. Stuffed chicken breasts, pork tenderloin, salad, and a bunch of yellow sides. There was dessert, but I don’t remember it every being brought out. I had lots of champagne with pomegranate juice.:) I also got a red ipod nano, (which I’m scared of) and 250.00 ,which I’m very fond of. I also got this huge gift basket from bath and body in the name drawing. I know this girl spent more than the 20.00 limit. Oh well, why do people do that? It’s vanilla caramel. I’m going to return it for store credit. It has a bunch of stuff in there I don’t use, like bath powder and bath salts(?). After Christmas they have the 75% off sale and I have a 10% off coupon. Then I can get the flavors I like better and get lots more. That’s what Christmas is all about. I’m sure I’ll use some of my money to go to Trader Joe’s and I want a cashmere sweater. Lands End always has them on sale after Christmas. I’m thinking white or pink or bright green. Probably white. I also want to go to Kani House. It’s one of those Japanese steak houses. Yum. Any hoo, i finally showered and have to go work on the city of Simonica and watch Dallas. I’m starving and I can’t get my self to make anything. I just finally made coffee. I’m eating pea soup. Boring!!! Maybe hamburgers or chili for supper, but chili sounds pretty ambitious today:( Enjoy the weekend, I have to go to the grocery store tomorrow. How could I have prepared so badly to have to do that the weekend before Christmas? Merry Christmas!
Next…World Domination!
December 18, 2007Have you heard of www.myminicity.com? It’s very fun and very addictive to me. You can go and visit my city, Simonica, by clicking here http://simonica.myminicity.com/ind. There are 6 phases and you have to get people to visit your city, using the different links for each municipal situation. Population, industry, unemployment, security, environment, and transportation. Some of these cities are huge. It’s a lot of work to maintain your city. If people keep coming without using say, your industry link when needed, unemployment goes up. I’m learning this as I go along. It’s nice to visit other cities and then they will visit you to return the favor and you can build up a nice little network of supporters. Don’t let the names of some of these towns scare you. They can be offensive and gross but I don’t think those people knew what the site was really about. I could be wrong. I have been before. Any way, it’s fun and when you go to the site you can write in the Simonica bulletin and leave a message. If you show up using the correct link, it can help build my factories or transport and so on. I’ll let you know what link I need, but feel free to visit anytime using the link above or just go to myminicity.com and look up Simonica. I don’t know if you have to have a city of your own to count as one of my visitors or not, but I don’t think so. You should also visit Smattville, Emmysburg, and Kitsy Town. They’re nice little stops on the way to Simonica. I will now ask my loyal readers to submit a town slogan in the comments, just to have some fun. Thanks!!
Crazy
December 15, 2007Today I went to Walgreen’s to bum around. They had a bunch of stuff on clearance so I started looking around. I got some Loreal Revitalift reg. 15.99 for 3.84! I got some body washes, face cleanser, couple more face moisturizers, and body lotions. I used coupons on all but one item. My total was 29.31. I had 17.50 in coupons and advertised savings: 56.20. Total savings 73.70. Thank you sir, may I have another!!
Then I came home and baked The Best Peanut Butter Cookies Ever: 1 c peanut butter 1 egg 1 c sugar 1 tsp baking soda. Roll in sugar, flatten with fork. Bake 10 min at 350. Trust me. Let cool a few minutes on baking sheet before removing. I always use parchment on my baking sheets. If you don’t have it, you don’t need to grease the sheets.
Mele Kalikimaka
December 9, 2007December 8 you say? Tell it to Georgia. Today it was 76 in our house. Windows open and ceiling fans on. Not exactly good for the heating business. Maybe someones air will go out. I wore grinch shorts and flip flops. Jimmy bought a new addition for the house. It’s a lighted up palm tree. It looks so cool up in the corner of our yard. I wasn’t sure I’d like it but I love it. I wish we had a nativity to go with it. I wish I could show you. Jimmy wants to get me a camera for Christmas, but I’m afraid I won’t know how to put pictures on my site. Tonite we grilled steaks on the grill. YUM! We used our Spode plates and had all the trimmings. Last nite we went to an Italian restaurant and it was delish. I had some veal item with prosciutto and cheese and garlic sauce with pasta. Jimmy had lasagna, sausage, and something else. We also had spicy calamari for an appetizer. The rolls were great and the marinara….YUM. Then I watched Elf and Jimmy fell asleep. Elf is sooo funny. I went to Trader Joe’s again this weekend. Among other things, I got dough , sauce, and pepperoni to make pizza. I made the mock turtles on Kitsy”s website, love them. I’m going to make gumdrop & peanut butter cookies tomorrow. My chex mix turned out pretty good this year. Not as good as baby’s tho. All my shopping is done and packages ready to send out tomorrow. YIPEE! Now it’s all about me. Getting my hair cut, toes and nails done, and eyebrows in the next few weeks. It so feels like Fort Myers down here. It’s suppose to stay warm for the next few days at least.
Walking in a Wednesday Wonderland
November 28, 2007Thanks to Kitsy, I went to a fun site. “Shutterbean” is devoted entirely to Trader Joe’s. I’m lucky to have a Trader Joe’s not far from me. Chalk up one to the “pros” of Georgia. Well that put me in the mood. I haven’t been to Joe’s since Kellehers were here. After Jazzercise I headed out. A beautiful day for the 20 minute drive. Crisp and clear and sunny. The only drawback was the cops that live on Hwy 92, a long tempting stretch of road with the lame speed limit of 45. Some of you may know that about 4 months ago, I had the pleasure of talking to Smokey and handing the county of Cherokee and the city of Woodstock a $180.00 check. So I have time this morning, go the limit and live in the present. (That’s Al-Anon speak.) I need to go to this place more often, and now I’m sure I will. Here’s what I bought: 2 lovely, perfectly round oranges..49cents ea. 1 bag of organic shredded carrots..1.69. TJ’s instant Thai soup in a box..1 spring onion, 1 shitake mushroom…99 cents ea. 2 package of TJ’s cracker thins, 1 sesame, 1 savory…1.29 ea. Now whats this? Yummy! I wanted one of these for Christmas this year. A Holiday Cake Panettone Classic in the nice big red box with little black handle..5.99. G. may remember the yummy French toast we had last year at Williams Sonoma made from this bread. So then I had to have the Grade A Dark Amber 100% Maple Syrup …3.99. Christmas breakfast! The cake looks lovely under the tree, with the glowing bottle of amber syrup. The reason I came today…1 bag of frozen Gyoza Chicken Pot Stickers…3.29. Jimmy loves pot stickers and since he surprised me with the Rat Pack sings Christmas CD this morning, maybe a special dinner. These I saw on the website above, and are the reason for this food orgy. I also got 1 bag of frozen Beef Teriyaki Stir Fry…3.69, a TJ’s best seller! Heading back to condiments for 1 bottle of TJ’s soy sauce, imported from Japan, …2.99 and 1 bottle Hot and Sweet Mustard..1.49. Now since I’m here, 1 bottle of Two Buck Chuck wine, “Nouveau” Valdiguie(Val-de-gay)…2.49. Never had this kind before. It appears to be light red.The reason for only 1 bottle, I have more at home. Not buying at least one bottle of Two Buck Chuck when you are at TJ’s is like going to McDonalds and not getting fries. And last but not least, A TJ’s Salami and Cheese Platter for my meeting on Thursday…7.99. The cheeses are Havarti and cheddar and a robust salami. Its a special meeting and everybody has to bring something. It’s real nice, I’ll probably get another for bowl games this season. I used my reusable bag Kit and I got on our last visit(free since we were first time customers). Then the cute, nice cashier gave me a slip to fill out with my name, phone number, and something else I can’t remember. I will either be entered to win a prize or get a date with this guy! Win-Win!! And the grand total: $39.70. It’s really not any more expensive for some things than at Publix! One dozen farm fresh eggs…1.19. They are 1.59 at Kroger. What’s the deal with eggs being so expensive? Unfortunately, I didn’t need any eggs. That was fun, wish I had any one of you loyal readers with me. Wouldn’t pictures really make this blog??:(
Dallas, Miami, Kentucky, Georgia
November 27, 2007Hello world! I trust you all had a nice turkey day. Don’t you hate that “turkey day”? I do. It was cold and thankfully rainy but not 3 years worth. So any hoo, a few thoughts on Dallas. Why do Pam and Bobby share that one car? Even Jimmy and I each have a car! Ray should have demanded JR set him up with a dental plan to fix that terrible crown on his front snaggle tooth. I remember thinking how extravagant that show was in the 70’s. I had really low expectations then. The whole thing looks like it was shot at Ak Sar Ben. I have also been watching Miami Vice. NICE! The music cracks me up! Also, all the hot chics in aerobic outfits. The cell phone hasn’t made an appearance yet, but i can hardly wait. I’m sure it wont be hard to miss. It’s fun to watch for the hottest guest stars. It was THE show to be on. NetFlix sent “Scrooge” with Albert Finney today. Thank you very much! Today we had Kentucky Fried Chicken for supper . I got home late and asked Jimmy to get KFC , and that was all he brought back. Chicken. No sides, no biscuits, not even napkins. I did however, find a hot sauce packet in the bucket, so someone had a taco side on the way home. My expectations continue to be as low as Lake Lanier.
The Way Back Machine
November 21, 2007On Wednesday I received “Dallas” Season 1 Disc 1 2 3. I am thankful. But I must submit some musings as I watch the ’70’s and ’80’s unfold. The hair, clothes, and Chrysler La Barons are too easy. I watch JR jabbing away… at a Blackberry? WTH? Oh, it’s a Texas Instruments calculator! Then, the whole fam is held hostage by two bruts out for revenge. USE YOUR CELL PHONES! I scream. The entire house freezes when the one land line RRRRIIINNNGGSSS. Poor Miss Ellie has a migraine and seizes in pain when that phone rings and can’t be turned off. And another thing, if they’re so rich, why are their cars always so dirty and how come their house looks like a Radisson Inn. Why does JR and Sue Ellen live in the play house? I will continue to ponder this American phenomenon tonight while I sleep and every night until I reach the climatic conclusion. If you keep visiting me, I will randomly let you know what I think as I observe ” Dallas” in the Way Back Machine.
Twofers
November 20, 2007Thanksgiving Day Parades: These things are sooo boring, when are they over? Damn, Frank Gifford is OLD!
Thanksgiving Dinner: I’m so hungover, when do we eat? Black olives on all my fingers.
Black Friday: Who is stupid enough to get up so early and do that? Did that last year and felt like a big fool!
Fall Weather: That first whiff of furnace dust. Making a big pot of chili, and having the temperature outside shoot up to 74.
Thanksgiving Holiday/Vacation: Gonna start that Term Paper. Partied the whole time, gotta start that term paper!!
Thanky Squirrelly.
Bored At Georgia
November 16, 2007I’m still here. There is absolutely nothing going on and nothing to say. Sorry. Sucks to be me. Hate it for me. Oh yea, yesterday was payday. I’m broke.
I Deal In Reality
November 11, 2007I hope the writer’s strike last forever! I love reality shows! I read somewhere, that Big Brother may come back earlier than expected because of the strike. That is one of my favorites. I watch them all. Emmy nominated or groan inducing, I can’t stop and don’t want to. I DO NOT apologize. I love Survivor, The Bachelor, Top Chef, America’s Next Top Model, everything on VH1, and the granddaddy of them all, CourtTV. Project Runway starts next week. YEY!!! It’s really cool that I can go to NetFlix to get any episodes or seasons that I might have missed. Sometimes I do wonder why I am watching, they can be awfully stupid. I do however, want to do my small part in keeping actors out of work. Yes, I do have a life. I work, read, do yard work, go to church, follow sports, interact with friends, work out, and pay my bills. So, Do You Have Love For New York? Gotta go, Amazing Race is on.
